CCS in Europe
Carbon capture and storage continues to receive attention from policy makers keen to advance a sustainable future. The Network's communications adviser, Francesco Corona, details the current state of play.

Currently, there are nine carbon capture and storage (CCS) projects in Europe at different development stages. The two operating projects are at natural gas processing plants in Norway; while the rest are planned for power generation and the industrial sector scheduled to start operating after 2017.
Carbon capture and storage is a system, rather than a single technology. Deploying CCS requires long-term development plans and continuous economic support - strategic and streamlined public funding support is therefore fundamental.
