The recent European Commission report on the European Energy Programme for Recovery highlights the role the European CCS Demonstration Project Network.

A report providing analysis of the responses received shows that there is wide support for the continuation of the EU's CCS demonstration programme, as the best way to demonstrate its technical and economic viability, safe CO2 storage, and improve public perceptions.

CCS is 'essential' for reaching 2050 climate goals, and immediate steps are required: "Policymakers in Brussels should make it a priority to ensure that at least a few full chain CCS projects are taken forward to operation.
